BLANCHARD SET FOR FINAL OUTINGS IN A FORMULA FORD
9 October 2008

Victorian Tim Blanchard has enjoyed a stellar season in the British Formula Ford Championship, and with one round remaining the reigning Australian Formula Ford champ is the only driver in the field capable of surpassing series leader and team mate Wayne Boyd for the British crown.

Backed by Jaylec and the Australian Motorsport Foundation, Blanchard has been hot on the heels of Boyd this year, and while he needs things to go his way at this weekend's deciding round at Donington Park, he knows exactly the kind of pressure that is on a series leader heading into a Championship's final weekend of racing.

"Last year I was in exactly the same boat as Wayne is this year; I led the Australian series going into the final round at Phillip Island so I know what kind of pressure there is and anything can happen," said Blanchard.

"I'm still mathematically a chance, so I will be giving it everything to win the Championship, but either way I am very pleased with my first year results in Europe."

Currently 36 points behind his Jamun Racing team mate, Blanchard has enjoyed some outstanding results on race tracks he has had to familiarise himself with very quickly.

"To make the move over here and win races and be more than competitive has been very pleasing, and it has been a very good move for my career, I feel like I have learnt so much in the last year."

"I'm really looking forward to the Formula Ford Festival as well, it will be a super competitive but the experience I have gained really puts me in a good position," he said.

Blanchard will also contest the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch on 17-19 October and then make a decision on his 2009 racing future.

With the experience he has gained at the Brands Hatch circuit this year, and his proven race results in his Jaylec Mygale Blanchard is one of the favourites heading into the festival, and is taking a cautious but confident approach.

"Brands Hatch is a very difficult track to master but having been there before I'm definitely in a much better position to give myself a chance for some very good results.

"I'd love to win it but it's going to a tough weekend, I'm really looking forward to it."

Blanchard is looking contest the British Formula 3 championship in 2009 and hopes to secure funding and make a final decision in the near future.
