Tim Blanchard endures tough practice day at Queensland Raceway
The 2011 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series kicked off Round 4 with two forty minute practice sessions today at Queensland Raceway near Ipswich. The first session saw Tim again trying to find a good brake set up in the #27 Jayco / Cool Drive Falcon. The pace of the field had stepped up from the last visit in 2010 but Tim found some issues in stringing consistent lap times together.
'We are actually quicker today than the car ran here last year in practice, but the whole field has stepped up a lot' Tim said at the conclusion of the first session. 'I was finding some brake problems but the boys are putting new rotors and pads in for the next run.' Tim added.
The second session did indeed improve the brakes but the team had also made some balance problems which overall did not improve the drivability of the car.
'I was getting understeer through turns 4 and 5 and as the session went on the car was not really improving in any sector' a disappointed Tim said at the conclusion. 'We have a bit of head scratching to do then we will have to make some real changes for qualifying to bounce back inside the Top 10.' Tim added.
Saturday sees Qualifying and Race 1 of the 3 race round at the Queensland paperclip.
