Tim Blanchard looking to repeat Townsville success
In 2010, Tim Blanchard stood on the top step of the podium in Townsville after scoring his first race and round win in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series. He returns this weekend with that result fixed firmly in his mind as he tackles Round 3 of the 2011 series.
‘Townsville was a great result last year, and my aim is to be on the podium once again’ Tim said as he arrived in Townsville with his MW Motorsport team. ‘We had a very productive test at Winton recently where some gains were found in the car and my own understanding of its set up.’ Tim added. Blanchard is having only his third start in the ex FPR Falcon V8 Supercar and is confident that that the last round woes in Perth are well and truly behind him.
The Townsville layout is a tough and demanding circuit that has provided great racing in the Fujitsu and main V8 Supercar Championship categories. ‘The circuit demands a good car set up particularly in brakes and power down. It is a mix of a real street and permanent circuit layout. I think the Jayco Falcon will be right on the pace’ Blanchard said.
The Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series will contest three races over the weekend. A 14 lap race on Saturday and Sunday morning followed by an 18 lap final on Sunday afternoon.
Tim Blanchard currently sits in 6th place in the Championship and with 300 points up for grabs in Townsville he can move up the leader board with strong results.
