Late call up for Winton ride
Tim Blanchard was not expecting to be spending a weekend at a Shannon's National Series event this year. Nor did he expect to be saddling up in a Commodore Cup Car to contest a two driver enduro in the V8 engined class. But that all changed late Friday when V8 Supercar Team Owner Paul Morris spoke to Tim and suggested that is in fact what he would be doing.
A number of current V8 Supercar drivers including Steve Owen & Lee Holdsworth were to be joined by Morris in this unique event. Morris has been guiding Tim Blanchard on the main game V8 Supercar class already running Tim in the Castrol # 51 Commodore of Greg Murphy. When he was unable to attend the Winton event, Tim was the man in the frame.
'Paul spoke to me on Friday, then I had to grab a flight home from Queensland, get my helmet & race suit and bolt up to Winton. The first time in the car was Qualifying on Saturday' Tim said 'But a great way to spend a weekend - you can never get too much time in a race car!' he added.
Blanchard is sharing duties with car owner Josh Hughes in the # 12 Octane Engines Commodore Cup Car
